Residents of the city of Maricopa may still be waiting for a skate park, but the wait is over for a skateboard shop.
That is because Phenom Boardworks is now open.
Phenom Boardworks is a full-service board shop and is located in the New Stagestop Marketplace, 44301 W. Maricopa/Casa Grande Highway, Suite 11.
“With the opening of a store like this comes a full selection of blank and name-brand boards, along with all the hardware to get you started or back skating,” said Matt Halliday, the store’s owner.
Skate videos are available for purchase and are always playing on the plasma televisions so customers can watch all of their favorite pros while shopping.
Also, the store offers a full line of beverages to help customers cool off from the excruciating Arizona heat.
Phenom Boardworks offers T-shirts, belts, hats, wallets, helmets and stickers. The store carries brands inlcuding Birdhouse, Plan B, Black Label, Sullen, Hostility, Scum Skate, Lucky, Pig, Flip, Thrasher, Baker, Spitfire, Destructo and many more.
“Before now, anyone who needed a new deck or wheels had to make that dreaded drive back into Chandler. Now all you have to do is go around the corner,” Halliday said.
Halliday added that one of the best things about Phenom is that you don’t have to be a skater to come in and look around because the shop offers something for everyone young or old.
“In a city with so many skaters its about time it had itself a board shop,” Halliday said.
