Filling up at the pump these days is leaving your wallet on empty.

A survey of the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in eight cities across the Valley showed Maricopa is one of the most expensive.

Gas prices in Maricopa are $3.51 per gallon, which is 5 cents higher than the average across the Valley, currently about $3.46 a gallon.

Out of the eight cities in the Valley studied, Scottsdale was the most expensive for gas by far at $3.60 per gallon on average.

Maricopa was next on the list at $3.51 per gallon with Queen Creek right behind at $3.50, Tempe at $3.46 and Chandler and Casa Grande at $3.44 a gallon on average.

Tucson is considerably lower than the rest of the cities studied. Gas currently averages $3.30 per gallon there.

To compile the data, InMaricopa checked the web for as many as 50 gas stations in each city for prices and averaged the results.

The impact has not been felt by Maricopa resident Chris Coenig, however.
