House churches for saints and seekers

Bible scholars tell me the early churches went through a transitional period when the Jews, the Jewish proselytes, and God fearers who had been attracted to the Jewish faith met in houses as they branched out of the Jewish roots and accepted Christ.

The Apostle Paul writes to: “….Philemon, a much loved fellow worker, and to the Church that meets in your home.” In Romans 16:5 Paul writes, “Please give my greetings to all those who meet to worship ‘in their home.’”

These Bible scholars further explain that the Jews who accepted Jesus as the Messiah went through a period when they would meet in the Temple with fellow Jews and also in homes with those who knew Christ.

Luke writing in Acts 3 explains for us. “They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness, praising God. The whole city was favorable to them, and each day God added to them all who were being saved.” Acts 2:46 (New Living Bible).

You may have sensed by now that I'm eager to share the gospel of Christ in Maricopa with anyone who will listen. My interest is centered on the saints and the seekers.

I have a real love for the saints. These are the Christian people I need to know, enjoy, and be encouraged by their faith.

Another interest is the seeker. These are the people who have not made a declaration of faith in Christ, but they listen to teaching and realize, on some level, that God can be very important in their lives.

A puzzle for me is finding, in the least obtrusive way, these dear people. I'm learning that meeting space is very limited in Maricopa. God is showing me a way to reach them.

Perhaps I might meet them in their homes and share with them what God has given me.
