Maricopans will be able to buy a Sausage McMuffin at 5 a.m. on Aug. 8.

That’s when the newest Maricopa business, McDonald’s, will open its doors.

The McDonald’s franchise, the brainchild of founders Richard and Maurice McDonald, formed in 1955 in Des Plaines, Ill. The brothers’ humble store would grow to be the largest fast food chain in the world, serving nearly 47 million customers a day.

The restaurant offers hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, fries, milk shakes and more. The Maricopa McDonald’s will also offer a full line of café espresso drinks in addition to a tree house play land.

“When we designed the store, we tried to take into account the things the community of Maricopa was lacking,” said Michelle Slayton, one of the store’s owners.
