Mexican eatery closes

As commercial real estate centers continue to struggle in the recession, the effects are being felt in Maricopa.

Mando’s Mexican Food, 20928 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite C8, is the latest victim. The restaurant, located a few doors down from Bashas,’ closed after defaulting on its lease, according to a letter posted on the door in April by landlord Zell Commercial Real Estate Services.

Mando’s appears to have suffered the same fate as predecessor Fat Daddy’s Pizza, which occupied the same suite prior to going out of business. In addition to the restaurants, a dry cleaners, café, kids clothing store, fashion outlet, Western apparel store, gift shop and mail/copy center have all prematurely left the Bashas’-anchored Maricopa Fiesta plaza after having gone out of business.
