Mom seeks to destroy vicious cycle of child molestation

Dear Editor,

The moment you were born the nurses carried you to the incubator and started to prepare you for a new life. I sang “Jesus loves you,” and you opened those beautiful eyes for the first time. I made a promise to keep you safe and through the negligence of others, I have not kept my promise. Though the fault was not my own, I will start a foundation called Baby U R Safe. It will be designed to help children such as you who will encounter years of memories, some good and others not so good. Sadly, the not so good will empower mothers with a place to turn while raising children in a society under the black cloud. The black cloud is child molestation, and its affects at the moment of attack until the end of time.

The pain I see in your eyes, where there once was laughter, the behavioral changes as you throw your toys and slam the plastic horses against the floor in anger and frustration; the tears falling for no apparent reason; the doll house you used to play with is now the house you are trying to put back together and can’t; your loss of trust that propels me to thrust forward and make your world a better place.

I can no longer work and place you in the care of others for fear that this will happen again. The open area, the secluded bathrooms, the curtains are constant reminders in the center to you. You cling to me in the house, store and church in fear; I cannot breathe because you are smothering me, and I understand. It is not my strength that holds me up through the appointments with counselors, doctors and lawyers; it’s HIS strength. Remember when I read the poem “Footprints” to you, well now is the time when Jesus is carrying us through this.

Moms and dads, if your child has been molested or you suspect molestation, I seek you out for now is the time to join together to make a statement and stop this vicious cycle that is destroying the future of our children.

On June 27th, 2008, my child was molested in the daycare facility here in town where several of your children are now being taken care of. Several of the people involved are covering up this awful incident in hopes this mother will go away. I will not go away nor will I allow the city of Maricopa, its school district and several of its employees to cover this up.

I am specifically looking for parents whose children were on the premises of the Maricopa Elementary School Before and After-School summer program between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. who signed the in and out register to contact me.

E-mail me at [email protected].

Thank you,
Sue Sanchez
