The Maricopa Police Department is hosting fundraisers to help raise money for the first annual MPD Shop with a Cop program.

The Shop with a Cop Program is a national effort and started to help children in need have a memorable holiday experience. Each child is paired with an officer for his or her shopping experience. Several local businesses have offered assistance in sponsoring the event.

Tacos N More Restaurant, 21596 N. John Wayne Parkway, will host a Tip a Cop fundraiser 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. All tips will support the MPD Shop with a Cop Program.

Native New Yorker Restaurant, 21164 N. John Wayne Parkway, will host a Tip a Cop fundraiser 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday. The restaurant has agreed to donate 20 percent of the bill to the fundraiser if a patron mentions the MPD Shop with a Cop Program. All tips will support the MPD Shop with a Cop Program.

Through Dec. 7, Al’s Dogs, 21518 N. John Wayne Parkway, will donate 50 cents from each hot dog sold to MPD Shop with a Cop. Al’s Dogs is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday

Donations from The Duke and Penasco’s Restaurant already have been collected to fund the program.
