Murder in Maricopa takes dinner theatre stage

The wedding appeared joyous enough until the new bride, Courtney Hollandaise, fired the long-time servant, alienated her groom’s sister and put the family home on the auction block. No wonder her hold over new husband Mason, the heir to the hollandaise sauce fortune, created hatred and envy among most of the wedding guests.

With an audience dressed for their parts and in character all evening, Cynthia Morgan’s murder mystery dinner theatre offers something for everyone, from the experienced actor or actress to the more timid individuals who prefer to react rather than act.

“Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Neighborhood” debuted Saturday, Jan. 17, and will be back on Saturday, Jan. 24. From champagne and hors d’oeuvres on the patio at the Duke’s Silver Spur Grill through dinner and dessert, the evening of fun, mayhem and murder continues in an interactive way. Characters each have a clue to the murder, so part of the entertainment is collecting clues until the mystery is solved and the killer named.

No stage is set up, and characters have no dialogue to remember; they simply ad lib and react to the other characters. Prizes are awarded for best characters, best costumes, originality and deviousness.
