Murder, mystery and mayhem in Maricopa

106

When Cynthia Morgan moved to Maricopa, she saw the need for local entertainment. Through her company, Ventura Productions, she has launched a murder mystery dinner theatre for the community.

Teaming up with The Silver Spur Grill at the Duke at Rancho El Dorado, Morgan has put together an evening of food and fun. This is Maricopa’s only interactive dinner theatre experience where guests are treated to hors d’oeuvres, champagne, dinner, dessert and the show. Tax and tip are included in the $50 per person ticket price.

Guests can choose characters they can play, everything from an active character, where they might even be the killer, to middle of the road characters who can be either outrageously or modestly involved. Finally, there are parts for people who are a bit more passive, thinking, ‘I’m not so sure. Maybe I’ll get into it; maybe I’ll just watch.’

Morgan tells her guests, “Arrive in character, but please don’t fret. No acting is required; there is no stage to get up on and no dialogue to memorize. There are, however, wonderful prizes for the best characters, originality, best costumes to fit the characters, deviousness and aptness of thought. Oh, yes! Each character has a different clue. So your job will be to exchange your clue for others, to gather as many as you can throughout the evening.” Morgan says that there will be future performances in February and March.
