Mutt March ‘a success’

41

With more than 150 owners and their dogs in attendance, two dogs adopted and numerous animals vaccinated and licensed, organizers of the annual Mutt March at Pacana Park said today’s event was a success.

The purpose of the march was to raise funds for amenities for a proposed city-owned dog park. Benches, water fountains for people as well as dogs, shaded areas and more are among the extras the group hopes to be able to purchase with event proceeds. Twenty-two vendors
and five rescue organizations were on site as owners and their pets paraded around the lake at the park.

Kimberly Diedrich, one of the Mutt March Committee members, said Maricopa Animal Hospital vaccinated 30 dogs and microchipped three dogs. Pinal County Animal Care and Control licensed 19 dogs.

Two rescue groups, PetSocialWorker.org and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, each adopted out a dog. In addition, St. Bernard Rescue received two applications for adoption.
