85239 has hired a new editor. David Argabright started this week, and said he’s looking forward to having a hand in the editorial process at inmaricopa.com and 85239 The Magazine.

“I’m excited about helping 85239 continue to be the top source of news and information for Maricopa,” he said.

Argabright comes to 85239 from the East Valley Tribune, where he spent seven years as a copy editor and reporter for the sports and news departments at the daily newspaper in Mesa. He also previously held a marketing and public relations position at Arizona State University, and served as a reporter and sports editor for the SCC Campus News at Scottsdale Community College.

An Arizona native, Argabright is a graduate of ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He said his passion for journalism began to emerge at a young age.

“When I was a kid, the first thing I did every morning was grab the newspaper and get caught up on current events. On the rare times that I didn’t read the paper, I felt woefully uninformed and I hated that feeling,” he said.

Argabright will assume some of the responsibilities of interim editor Joyce Hollis, who will continue to be a vital contributor to 85239.

“We are thrilled to have Dave filling such an important position on our team,” said Scott Bartle, inmaricopa.com’s publisher. “He is going to have a great impact on our company and our community, and I know our readers will benefit from his experience and professionalism.”
