Newest pizzeria ‘topping’ the competition

Chicago’s deep-dish stuffed pizza and New York’s thin slice have long created a feud between the cities. You’ve got classic Italian pies and reliable chains toting ‘za on football Sunday in cars sporting lighted car toppers.

It begs the question of who slings the most delectable slice in town.

That’s why InMaricopa polled more than 1,750 of our readers to determine who serves the best pizza in city limits.

One in 4 voters said Maricopa’s newest pizzeria serves the best slice. Dell’s Pizza & Wings Express opened in May.

The results mirrored last week’s poll when InMaricopa readers said the city’s newest burger joint serves the best patty. Last month, readers also picked the city’s newest Mexican food joint over more than a dozen others, proving residents’ palettes favor novelty.

Coming in a close second place this week was Barro’s Pizza, which claimed 24% of votes, just 36 fewer than Dell’s. Barro’s took the “best pizza” crown in a 2009 InMaricopa poll.

Rosati’s Chicago Pizza came in third place, racking up 17% of reader votes.

One in 10 voters said Brooklyn Boys Pizzeria & Restaurant has the best pie.

The remaining seven Maricopa pizzerias claimed fewer than 10% of votes: MOD Pizza claimed (7%), Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza (4%), Domino’s Pizza and Native Grill & Wings (3%), Papa John’s Pizza and Little Caesars (2%).

Pizza Hut finished dead last with just 1%, or 23 votes.
