Barro’s takes ‘best pizza’ crown

The votes have been tallied, and the results are in: 35 percent of the readers of InMaricopa.com have crowned Barro’s with the title of “Best Pizza in Maricopa.”

Nearly 600 votes were collected in the week-long poll that asked readers to choose their favorite pizza from a list that included: Barro’s, Brooklyn Boys, Domino’s, Native New Yorker, Pizza Hut, Raceway and Rosati’s. Barro’s came out on top.

“We are excited to be named the best pizza in Maricopa,” said the Maricopa Barro’s Manager Joey Donovan. Donovan added that the secret behind Barro’s pizza is the crust, which some diners describe as flaky and others as doughy.

While Barro’s took top honors, finishing just behind was Rosati’s with 22 percent of the vote, and Brooklyn Boys with 20 percent. Both restaurant operators said the key to their pizzas was the use of fresh ingredients.

“We make our sauce from vine-ripened roma tomatoes, hand-grate our cheese and make the crust from scratch,” said Brooklyn Boys owner Vince Fiordilino.
