Error, computer will restart in 10, nine, eight . . . tired of the error messages, befuddled by cryptic computer language or just need advice in selecting a new computer?
Maricopans don’t have to look far, as Maricopa resident Kim Pepperell wants to help bring an end to computer woes.
Pepperell is the owner of PC Genie, a full-service computer repair and consolation firm established in Jan. 2007.
“The difference between my business and other computer repair people is the way I intend to help people with their computer needs,” Pepperell said.
“There are many older people and others out there who don’t have a clue when it comes to computer, software or peripherals. Often because of this lack of knowledge, they get overcharged and once they get this technology home are left totally clueless to the terminology that flashes across their computer screens,” he said.
Pepperell explained these people can call experts out who will set up their systems for them, or fix their computer problems, but this is not the primary type of customers he is looking to attract.
“I believe there are quite a number of others who don’t simply want someone to do everything for them. These are the ones I envision PC Genie helping the most,” Pepperell said. “I don’t just want my business to be computer repair.”
Pepperell said that he listens to his clients’ needs for a computer to help them make an intelligent decision on the type of equipment they need. When it comes to repairs, he will come to the clients’ home and diagnose the problem with them, often having them watch him as he completes the repair to teach them how to do it themselves.
Pepperell, a 35-year veteran of the computing field, said that he hopes his business can expand during the next several years to the point he has several full-time employees explaining computing details at the grass-roots level.
