Petco is a few animal lovers shy of opening its doors in Maricopa.

The pet supply giant hung a hiring sign outside its pending location on John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road last week, suggesting the store is inching closer to an opening date.

The store is slated to open Oct. 23, according to Google business listings.

Petco listed 11 part-time and full-time jobs online, including sales associates, an assistant store manager, a grooming salon manager and hospital veterinarian at the Maricopa store.

Information about salary and how many employees the store plans to hire were not available.

The company itself has not disclosed an official opening date and, according to Petco spokesperson Yvonne Tarrab, nothing is final until an announcement just before the grand opening.

“We won’t have any details until about a week or so before opening,” Tarrab said.

Petco’s Maricopa store will offer pet grooming, a veterinary hospital and dog training services, according to its website.
