Maricopa police identified the pilot killed in a paramotor crash yesterday.

Maricopa police and fire crews responded to Murphy Road and La Brea Road just after 7 a.m. on reports that a small aircraft had gone down, according to public safety spokesperson Monica Williams

When first responders arrived, they discovered a 45-year-old Florence resident, Allen Kay Sackett, had been using a backpack-style paramotor device when he had an uncontrolled landing. His family has been notified.

No one on the ground was injured and no structures damaged, according to a city statement.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.
