Former Marine endorses Glenn Millsaps for Sheriff

What qualities should the Pinal County Sheriff have? The ability to “do more with less” and maintain the prestige of the position in the eyes of the public by bringing honor to it, not disgrace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Glenn Millsaps, Democratic candidate for Pinal County Sheriff at the Independence Day celebration in Maricopa. I was impressed, and now I am writing this article as a personal endorsement for him.

Glenn was an outstanding Marine. I know because I was a Marine Corps military policeman and I am familiar with Glenn’s level of success as a Marine. He is what we need because I know the training a Marine obtains. All Marine noncommissioned officers receive in-depth leadership training.

Glenn will also be familiar with working within a budget. The Department of the Navy holds the budget of the United States Marine Corps to basically what the Navy deems Marines need.

Part of basic training from Day 1 is the concept of “doing more with less.”

I knew that same concept while sitting as a desk sergeant with the rank of corporal, and on occasion as watch commander, a billet usually reserved for a staff noncommissioned officer.  We learned the value of running an effective operation while being understaffed and maintaining a high morale.

I believe Glenn Millsaps, like all Marines, knows how to “do more with less.”

Another essential connection between being a Marine and Pinal Country Sheriff can be found in the 11 Leadership Traits of the Marine Corps, specifically Leadership Trait No. 4 – “Keeping your Marines informed.”
