Plaza Bonita Family Mexican Restaurant is coming to Maricopa and is expected to open the first week of July.

The restaurant will be located at the north end of the Fry’s Marketplace plaza in the space previously occupied by Teakwoods Tavern and Grill, which closed its Maricopa location in 2011. Ramsey’s American Grill, which closed in 2007, preceded Teakwoods.

“I know not having a business there has affected Yogurt Jungle and some other places in this plaza, so this restaurant opening will definitely help everybody out,” said Tracy Nagy, manager of The UPS Store.

Nagy believes anything that brings more traffic to the area is welcome.

Plaza Bonita was established by owners Joel and Jesus Suniga in 2003 and currently has nine locations across the state.

“People have been telling how much Maricopa is growing and a friend of mine told me about the open location, so I showed it to the owners and we decided it would be a great idea to open a new location here,” said General Manager Paul Allen.

“We decided Maricopa would be a great place to bring our quality and authentic Mexican cuisine and exceptional customer service,” he said.

Every location includes a full bar, daily happy hour specials and a large selection of tequila.

The stores’ hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The menu includes a bevy of traditional Mexican cuisine, lunch specials and desserts ranging from $7 to $16, as well as a large selection of margaritas, liquor and cocktails.
