Maricopa police are investigating a reported gunfight in Senita.

Someone dialed 9-1-1 to report gunshots were exchanged in a central part of town near Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway Wednesday.

Cops responded to the report on West Cowpath Drive around 9 p.m., according to Monica Williams, a spokesperson for the city’s emergency services.

A witness whose age and sex were not released told officers that people began shooting from inside a moving vehicle on Cowpath Drive.

The witness, who possessed a gun, admitted to returning fire, police said. The witness hit an empty vehicle parked on the street.

According to Maricopa police, a preliminary investigation found evidence the witness was not the target of the gunfire.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident. No arrests have been made yet.

The investigation is ongoing.

    • I’m the neighbor whose car got shot. There was no truck. There was no drive by. MPD has the Ring Doorbell footage for everyone in the neighborhood. MPD has all the evidence, plus a confession and hasn’t charged him anything. Meanwhile I’m left with the bill of damages, rental car and loss time from work.
