Wings are one of America’s messiest meals.

Spicy hot with a side of ranch? Easy.

Drenched in honey barbecue sauce? Got you covered.

No matter how you like your wings, there’s no shortage of local spots to feed that craving. That’s why InMaricopa asked our readers this week where they find the best wings.

More than 800 participated in the poll.

One in four voters, or 27.65%, said Maricopa’s longest-standing wing slinger, Native Grill & Wings, tosses their bird the best. Native has been around since July 25, 2005.

Native has been a longtime favorite for locals, winning “top wing” title in a 2010 InMaricopa poll.

The results were a change of pace from previous InMaricopa polls. In last week’s poll, readers said Maricopa’s newest pizza shop serves the most delectable slice in town. Last month, readers said the city’s newest burger joint serves the best patty, and the newest Mexican food restaurant serves the tastiest spicy fare from south of the border.

The second- and third-most voted options were split by only two votes. One in five voters said both Barro’s Pizza, 19.43%, and Wingstop, 19.18%, serve their wings just right.

One in 10 respondents said Dell’s Pizza & Wings Express best batters their wings. The pizzeria was named the top-voted pizzeria in last week’s poll.

The remaining nine wing restaurants gathered fewer than 10% of votes: Slim Chickens claimed 4.86%, Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers, 4.36%, The Roost, 4.23%, Rosati’s Chicago Pizza and Pizza Hut/Wing Street, 2.24%, Little Caesars, 1.62%, Brooklyn Boys Pizzeria & Restaurant, 1.25%, Silver Spur Grill, 1.12% and Domino’s, 0.87%.
