949

The primary election is Aug. 28 and early balloting is underway. InMaricopa.com has been publishing two to three Q & As at a time done with candidates in primary races.

The final two candidates in this series are running for Pinal County Assessor: Republicans Jeffrey Acton and Douglas Wolf.

Name: Jeffrey Acton
Age: 40
Occupation: Certified bench jeweler
Residence: San Tan Valley
Family: Single
Heart’s desire: To lower the taxes for all Pinal County homeowners to $100 per year.
Political experience: Precinct committeeman; campaign chairman; campaign treasurer; political adviser. Attended at least 30 Pinal County Board of Supervisor meetings since 2009.

Why are you running?

The county is spending too much money; almost $1 million per day. I have learned about such issues as the adopted primary levy per capita, which is the fourth highest in Arizona. I want to eliminate policies that have caused delays in the past by simplifying your tax bill and tax code.

Why should Maricopans vote for you?

I want to build a satellite office in Maricopa. I also want to establish a new code of understanding the tax assessor’s office. Again, simplify tax codes and bills.

Why should voters are about the county assessor position?

In the past there have been more than 3,000 appeals per year in Pinal County. Obviously the current assessor laws are not working. My job will be to provide better solutions, while working with the board of supervisors and the county manager.
