Remember this one? ‘I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream!’ What better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than an ice cream social, particularly one that benefits the Firefighters Relief Fund?

The Professional Firefighters of Maricopa (Local 4561) are holding a “Beat the Heat” ice cream social Tuesday (May 22) from 2-7 p.m. at Water and Ice in the Bashas’ Plaza.

Scheduled and organized by members of the firefighters’ union and its president, Capt. Richard Jackson, Water and Ice is donating all profits from the event to the Firefighters Relief Fund.

Expect Maricopa firefighters to be serving customers and showcasing one of their fire trucks at the ice cream social.

Local 4561’s membership uses relief funds to provide for families of firefighters who are ill, injured or killed.

Since organizing as a local union group in January, members have provided relief funds to firefighters and their families in Maricopa, in Arizona and across the U.S. and Canada.
Tuesday Maricopa residents can “Beat the Heat” and donate to the Firefighters Relief Fund at the same time.
