After some sprinkles overnight, Maricopa was met with steady showers Thursday that had water standing on roadways during the morning commute.

It also caused flooding in a couple of classrooms at Pima Butte Elementary, which is on Rancho El Dorado. Schools were put on a rain schedule. Rain continued until the afternoon. Some areas of the county received up to half an inch of rain in 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the Maricopa Police Department, no accidents were reported on a “calm and cool” day.

According to the NWS, the system moving in from California brings another chance of showers Saturday.
