The Recycling Association of Maricopa is looking for artists who can create handcrafted gifts made from recycled materials to sell its ECO-Holiday Gift Boutique.

The event will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at the recycling center, 46250 W. McDavid Road

To showcase products, artists must submit a photo of their creations along with a description to [email protected] by Dec. 2. All products must be made from at least 51 percent post-consumer recycled materials.

The photos will be scored by the Recycling Association’s board of directors. The artists with the highest scores will be selected to showcase and sell their products during the event.

Event creator Gina D’Abella said this will be the first time artists can display their products at the recycling facility. Previously, D’Abella hosted the boutique in her home.

“We’re encouraging people to make household trash into a marketable treasure,” D’Abella said.

The goal is to showcase local artists who are passionate about recycling and upcycling and to have people think differently about what they throw away, D’Abella said.

“We’d like to help move those closet artists out of the closet and into the mainstream, so people can see those beautiful things that can be made out of trash,” D’Abella said.
