Economist and state Rep. Adam Kwasman, R-District 11, announced Monday the formation of an exploratory committee to run for Congressional District 1. State District 11 services the city of Maricopa.

“You don’t have to be an economist to know that Washington’s numbers don’t add up,” Kwasman said. “The runaway debt and deficit spending in D.C., and the rising tide of taxation and regulation are putting our future prosperity in jeopardy.”

In the Legislature, Kwasman served as a prime co-sponsor of Transaction Privilege Tax reform. He also helped end a six-year dispute over a wastewater treatment plant between Marana and Pima County and corrected a technical error that freed up more than $1 million for the Arizona Auto Theft Authority.

Kwasman has pledged to focus his campaign on job creation

“Saving the Navajo Generating Station has to be priority No. 1 for the representative from this district,” Kwasman said. “It means hundreds of jobs and affordable energy for ratepayers throughout Arizona.”
