Salsa dancers, bands spice up festival

Professional salsa dancers and several live bands inspired guests of all ages to kick up their heels Saturday at the Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by inmaricopa.com.

A strong lineup of festival entertainment likely helped draw in what turned out to be record attendance.

In the Kid Zone, karate students from the Maricopa Black Belt performed moves of their own, along with other local entertainers including Desert Sun Performing Arts, Desert Star Gymnastic, Maricopa Dance Academy and Desert Star Gymnastic. Dust in the Wind closed out the entertainment with a string ensemble performance.

The main stage hosted professional bands The Big Zephyr, Havana Soul and Eastonashe.

The Tropical Vibes salsa dancing troupe, which performed on a ground-level dancing floor in front of the main stage, appeared to entertain fans of all ages. Some from the younger set tried to imitate their moves.
