Secondhand Pages closing out inventory

Maricopans looking for an inexpensive place to address their reading addictions will have one less option after Aug. 25.

That is the day Maricopa’s Secondhand Pages Bookstore will close in preparation for turning the storefront back to the property manager.

The bookstore has enjoyed moderate success in its three years in Maricopa, said storeowner Jennifer Kacprowicz. However, when it came time to renew the lease, she decided now was not a good time to take a chance on continuing her business.

Kacprowicz said she had debated about possibly renewing the lease for the additional three years and introducing a coffee shop as a portion of her business but decided the proposition was too risky.

To help move some of the inventory off the shelves from now until the closing date, Kacprowicz will be holding a different sale each week, with the ultimate goal of selling everything in the store.

“I don’t like to think of it as a going out of business sale but a store closeout sale,” she said.

Despite closing the store, Kacprowicz said she has many unforgettable memories and has met many great people in her time there.
