The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce, a network supporting and advocating for small businesses, is holding an election for seats on its board of directors; however, only Chamber members can vote.

In order to become a member, a business pays a fee based on a number of variables, including number of employees, business size and type of business.

Currently there are approximately 290 members of the Chamber, and it is those 290 members who will decide on who leads them.

Two positions are open on the Chamber’s seven-member board, plus one alternate position.

The seven candidates for the two open seats are:

Rusty Akers, Community of Hope
Dick Barkley, Barkley Consulting Group, Inc.
Ed Borromeo, Global Water
Amanda Gabriel, AmTrust Bank
Adam Gaub, Maricopa Monitor
Bob Gillespie, Benchmark Home Loans
Dr. John Donohue, A1 Health & Wellness

According to the Chamber’s Executive Director Terri Kingery, voting will close on December 11. “Those winning this election will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2009. At the first regular Board meeting in January, board members in attendance will select officers for 2009. In addition and adhering to the bylaws, an alternate board member will also be appointed.”

“We should have a determination done by early December,” said Mark Molus, president of the Chamber.

When the selections are made, the names of the new members will be announced.
The newly elected board members will join the following individuals as the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2009:

Mark Molus, 1st Impressions Ink
Bill “Waz” Wasowicz , The Wizards of Waz
Keith Kirkman, Orbitel Communications
Sheriolyn Curry, Comfort Keepers
Anthony Snider, Wells Fargo Bank
Danielle Casey, City of Maricopa (non-voting)
