Shell Rapid Lube open for business

Maricopa residents have just received another option for oil changes and it is a quick one.

The Maricopa Shell Rapid Lube opened this past Saturday and owner Scott Hallaran said he hopes to get people in and out in 15 minutes.

“My goal is not to keep customers’ cars here overnight,” he said.

In addition to oil changes, the business offers transmission flushes, fuel filter replacements and other minor automotive services.

“We specialize in the quick services,” Hallaran said.

Although the Maricopa store is a new location, oil is not a new game for the Gilbert resident. Hallaran at one time owned six Shell Rapid Lube stations around the Valley, but had to downsize to two locations, in Maricopa and another in Mesa, in order to spend more time with his family.

“I had three kids and they didn’t like daddy being gone all the time, so I cut it back,” he said.

Although the Maricopa location currently can service only one vehicle at a time, Hallaran said he envisions adding another lift to expand the shop’s capacity.

“We don’t have much room, so it will have to be a small scissor lift out front,” he said.

Hallaran choose to expand in Maricopa because a friend owned the land where he built the station, and a quick lube was something the community needed.

Since starting construction on the new facility and ultimately opening it last weekend, one thing Hallaran said he noticed was the friendliness of people in Maricopa.

“Everywhere you go, it seems like people say hi and are willing to talk with you. I love it,” he said.
