Stagestop Marketplace vandalized by juveniles

111

On Wednesday of last week officers from the city of Maricopa Police Department responded to a call of vandalism in progress at 44301 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, the Stagestop Marketplace.

MPD received multiple phone calls regarding two juvenile male subjects who were spray painting (which is considered criminal damage) the back of the building.

The juveniles were reported as running south through the desert adjacent to the business. Officers responded to the scene and located both subjects in the desert. One of the juvenile suspects was immediately detained, but the second juvenile suspect fled on foot into the Desert Cedars subdivision.

A parameter was established and after a thorough search, the second suspect was located and detained.

Estimates of the damage were provided by the victim and are approximately $5,000.

MPD is continuing this investigation to determine whether the suspect’s involvement may be linked to other acts of criminal damage. Both juveniles were booked into Pinal County Juvenile Facility on one count of felony criminal damage.
