Steve Smith will bring change for Maricopa and Arizona

The city of Maricopa has never truly had a voice in the Arizona Legislature, but I intend on changing this.  As a resident of our great city, along with my wife and two daughters, I support local businesses as I currently operate a profitable Arizona company. 

Additionally, I am a pro-life conservative who believes in GOD, FAMILY and COUNTRY, and I believe now more than ever we need a representative who will support us and our values. Currently, Arizona is facing one of the most difficult times in our history, so I plan to use principled and sound leadership to enact change regarding the following issues:

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: As the biggest issue affecting Arizona both economically and socially, my goal is to implement legislation that would stop all state funding for illegal aliens and to secure our border. Did you know last year Arizona spent a staggering $2.7 billion on healthcare, education, and imprisonment costs for illegal aliens? More importantly, did you know our state budget deficit last year was approximately the same amount – $2.7 billion. It is now even higher today! And we wonder why the state is bankrupt?

Did you also know Arizona is now the kidnapping capitol of the United States and is victim to treacherous drug and human smuggling cartels? I feel very strongly about this issue and it is why I have been endorsed by Sheriffs Paul Babeu and Joe Arpaio, the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, and the Arizona Citizens Defense League. 

JOBS/ECONOMY: I believe we must lower taxes on individuals and businesses, both small and large, to help stimulate growth in Arizona. This will help create new jobs and opportunities as we can no longer sit back and hope for things to improve. This will not be easy but it is why I plan to use my 15-plus years of strong business experience, leading people, managing budgets and making difficult decisions, to help our state get back our jobs.  I will “roll up my sleeves” and do what is needed. We must act now!

EDUCATION: Today, Arizona’s education system ranks as one of the worst in the U.S., and quite frankly this is unacceptable. I come from a family of teachers, so I understand the role they play in the lives of our youth. Currently, too many of our tax dollars are going to administrative bureaucrats instead of our classroom educators.  

When teachers are not properly compensated, as many in our state are not, we will continue to see them leave the area or give up the profession. Either way, the children of Arizona lose. We must direct more of our education dollars to teachers and educators!
 
Finally, I saw a recent newspaper article about my opponent and how her family has built a political “dynasty” which has created a tight grip on the state Senate seat.  I intend to break this hold these career politicians have created and return the seat, voice and office back to the people of this great district where it belongs.
