Want a flat-screen TV for 99 cents? Here’s your chance.

Maricopa residents can expect some sweet deals during the grand opening celebration of the 99¢ Only Stores near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road. The store is scheduled to open its doors to the general public at 8 a.m. on Oct. 10.

Following a company tradition, the 99¢ Only Stores will sell Westinghouse 40-inch flat-screen TVs for 99 cents to the first nine customers in line. Also, any person in line before 7:45 a.m. will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win the 10th flat-screen TV.

Giving away TVs for 99 cents at a grand opening celebration has been a practice of the company that dates back to the 1980s, said spokeswoman Sarah Correa. It often draws large crowds with people camping out just to be near the front of the line.

“The customers love it,” Correa said of the grand opening deals, adding that it gets the “buzz” going within the city about the new store.

During the store’s opening on Oct. 10, the next 99 customers in line after those who score the TV deal will be able to purchase Just Start scooters for 99 cents.  The following 99 customers will be able to purchase a Crayola Color Explosion Kit for 99 cents, and the next 99 customers will be able to buy a Flickering LED Scented Candle for 99 cents.

The store is offering grand opening deals from Oct. 10 until Oct. 18. For a full list of deals, click here.

These low-priced items will only be offered on certain days to the first 99 customers. There is a one item limit to each family or household.

According to a company press release, the new store is about 11,615-square-feet and will house a perishable food department.

The store is located at 44515 W. Edison Road.
