Fast and furious storm causes extensive tree damage

The storm that hit around 5:30 p.m. was fast and furious, but it ran out of gas in 15 or 20 minutes.

The Duke at Rancho El Dorado reported about 80 trees were damaged or knocked down on the golf course and parking area.

“What happened last night was an exception,” said assistant golf shop manager John Bacon. 

Bacon lives near the golf club and went to look at the damage after the storm.

“I had to come out here and ride the course, and you couldn’t get to a few of the holes. There was tremendous damage,” he said.
