Suicide victim found at Rancho El Dorado house

A locksmith sent to change the locks at a property in the 22000 block of North Van Der Veen Way Wednesday evening came across a grisly discovery.

The body of a man believed to be in his 50s was found with a self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound to the head. Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Elliott told inmaricopa.com the body apparently had been there for two weeks.

“The landlord company believed the house had been vacant,” Elliott said. “The power had been turned off and the individual had not paid their rent. The company sent the locksmith Wednesday to re-key the house and that is when the locksmith discovered the body.”

Elliott said no identification was found on the body. The Sheriff’s Office first received a call at 5:03 p.m. Wednesday to respond to the home.
