Tacos N’ More to take advantage of new variance

The Maricopa Board of Adjustment approved a variance Tuesday night that could encourage patrons of Tacos N’ More to take their food outside.

The variance modifies the city’s required set back, the distance a business must be from the curb, from 15 feet to 1.5 feet. “One of the best things that a city can do for small businesses is moving them closer to the street front,” said board of adjustment member Carl Diedrich.

The restaurant’s owner, Mercy Vasquez, said she was excited to get the approval. “We have been working three years on this project; it is great to finally be so close to completion,” she said.

With the additional space, Vasquez will extend a 900-square-foot open-air patio in the front of the restaurant, surrounded by a decorative fence and native-desert landscaping.

“This will allow us to add nine more tables, improve the exterior look of the restaurant and give customers something they have been asking for,” Vasquez said.

The concrete slab for the patio is already in place and Vasquez predicts that the exterior dining option will be available to customers in January. “It will be a new year and a new patio for Tacos N’ More,” Vasquez said.
