Tour the Silver Horizon, Maricopa’s California Zephyr

The Maricopa Historical Society is hosting an educational, moonlight tour of the Silver Horizon on May 7.

Located at the Maricopa Amtrak Station on the corner of John Wayne Parkway and the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, the Silver Horizon is a Maricopa landmark. It was part of the famous California Zephyr domes and streamliners that charmed Americans for more than 20 years.

As you travel through its lower coach and upper observation deck you will explore not only the skies, but also get a peek at Maricopa’s many artifacts, which depict the area’s rich heritage. On display will be a collection of beautiful paintings belonging to one of Maricopa’s most famous characters, Harold Williams.

Williams had a great appreciation for Maricopa’s rich heritage, and his many paintings of old buildings, gins, land and people reflected that love.

Come out, meet your neighbors and enjoy the magic of both a time from the past and a moment in one man’s life.  Historical Society members are looking forward to sharing these historic moments with you and your family.
