Trafelet Accounting providing service to Maricopans all year round

Trafelet owns the Maricopa-based business,Trafelet Accounting Group. The accounting firm has been in Maricopa since 2007, but Trafelet was crunching numbers long before that.

Trafelet knew in high school he wanted to become an accountant. “My high school teacher Mrs. Kennedy convinced me that this is what I should do.”

Numbers were the primary focus for the Michigan native from that point on. He went through college without changing his major and would eventually bring his accounting skills to Arizona.

“We moved to Casa Grande in 1978, and I worked for a CPA firm there for 12 years,” Trafelet said. He eventually left that firm and got a job in Phoenix, but the Trafelet family would continue to live in Casa Grande. Then in 2004 they sat down and decided to move to Maricopa.

“It was a way of cutting my commute in half, and it gave my wife, who was working in Casa Grande, a 20-minute commute,” Trafelet said.

However, he would only continue his commute for two more years. “I looked at what I was doing and realized 65 percent of my time was wasted traveling,” Trafelet said. So he decided to open a firm in Maricopa.

“At the time there were no 52-week a year CPA offices open in the city, and the few people who were offering services out of their homes couldn’t handle all of the business,” Trafelet said.

His office offers individual and business tax services, small business consulting and accounting services. In five years Trafelet hopes he is recognized in Maricopa as still providing quality products at a fair price.
