Wash your car, eat a hot dog and drink a soda to help a child in need

Dear Friends:

I would like to introduce you to the Schumann family who reside in Maricopa. They are fighting for the life of their 8-year-old son, Zachary Schumann.

Zachary has a Wilms disease tumor, a children’s cancer that attacks the kidney. He has been battling this for three years. He has undergone major surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, etc. His latest fight is to survive a six-hour surgery that took place June 24 in Tucson.

This surgery was intended to remove a section of his liver where the cancer has spread. When examining his organs, the doctor found damage to other major organs.

He is fighting for his life.

My point in writing to you is this. We are holding a fundrasier July 19 at the Auto Zone in Maricopa on North John Wayne Parkway to help raise money for the family for medical bills, gas for travel, etc.

We are asking for volunteers to make baked goods to sell, items to raffle off in a gift basket, and donations. There will be a car wash, bake sale, raffle give-aways, lemonade, hot dogs, soda, water and ice pops for sale.

If you would like to learn more about Zachary, visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/zacharyschumann.

I thank you for your time. If you would like to make a donation to the family, there is an account set up at Wells Fargo Bank in Zachary’s name. You may also mail a check to my address made out to Zachary’s mom, Sara Schumann:

We thank you for your time in reading this and for any help that you can provide. Please tell all of your friends, family, etc., about this family’s courage and strength and please spread the word about the fundraiser.

Please keep Zachary and his family in your prayers.

Love to all,

Liz
