Maricopa Police Department released body camera footage from a tasing that curried interest in Maricopa this summer.
MPD arrested 34-year-old Adam R. Huggins Aug. 24 after he ran from cops and was found to have warrants and meth, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa.
Five days after the arrest, InMaricopa submitted a public records request for all footage of response. The request was fulfilled Dec. 4.
Officers responded to a recycling yard near West McDavid Road and Edwards Circle around 8:30 a.m. that morning when an officer recognized a man who had active warrants.
When dispatch confirmed the warrants, the officer entered the yard with lights flashing — Huggins saw the cop and sprinted away.
The officer struck Huggins in the back with a taser and took him into custody without further incident. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
While searching Huggins at the hospital, officers found a large bag full of crystal meth, according to the probable cause statement.
Huggins was booked into the Pinal County jail on fresh charges of resisting arrest and possessing dangerous drugs.
Cops also booked him on his warrants for other dangerous drugs charges, promoting contraband and failing to pay penalties.
