Enjoy ‘Coffee on the Porch’ tradition at Maricopa Library

44

In 2002, when the first new homes were being built in Maricopa and before it went from a town to a new city in Arizona, the library was in the portable building now being used by Maricopa Veterans located behind the Rotary Park on Honeycutt Road. Every week, when the weather made it possible, a group of new and old Maricopans would meet on the porch of the library for coffee and cookies. They would talk about where they came from, their families, and what was going on in town.

This tradition is being continued on the Third Thursday of each month at the new library at 41600 West Smith-Enke Road. Come join us for coffee, cookies and music. Get acquainted with your neighbors and meet Erik Surber, library manager. Learn about what is going on in the city, where to shop and the many groups with various interests who meet regularly. Pick up a calendar of the many activities at the library for children and adults, and perhaps join the Friends of the Library, a fund-raising and social group who support the library.

We would love to meet you and enjoy the wonderful Arizona fall weather with you. We will be at the library on Oct. 22 from 9-11 a.m. and every Third Thursday through spring. We have a tent, so no matter what the weather, we’ll be there. See you then.
