Maricopa Elementary gearing up for spring carnival

The Maricopa Elementary PTO is hosting its spring carnival this Saturday.

Last year’s carnival was only open to parent and students of the school, but it still had a turnout of more than 400 people. This year, the event is open to the general public.

“We decided to open it up to everyone,” said PTO president Marc Coder.

The carnival will feature bounce houses and a multitude of games, including bean-bag tosses, and a kissing booth, though not quite the standard version.

“We will be handing out Hershey’s Kisses and stamping kisses on people’s hands,” Coder said.

Several goodie baskets put together by the different grade levels at the school will be up for raffle. The baskets will have themes such movie lovers and will contain appropriate gifts for the theme. Tickets for the raffle will cost 50 cents apiece.

To keep carnival-goers from going hungry, Willie’s Weenies will be on hand selling hotdogs, chips, hamburgers and sodas.

Entrance to the carnival is 50 cents per person and all proceeds will go to benefit the Maricopa Elementary PTO.
