Peg Chapados promises Maricopa voters the following 10 qualities if she is elected to the Maricopa City Council:

1.  Leadership – direct managerial (retail store manager) and supervisory experience (training officer, police academy class coordinator/supervisor, director of special events) affording the opportunity to lead others, build consensus and make a positive difference.

2.  Experience – current and previous involvement and service: VRED HOA board member and officer, HOA committee member and chair, Maricopa Police Foundation board officer, Maricopa Seniors board member, 2010 U.S. Census Complete Count Committee member, officer of former Public Safety Advisory Committee, member of 2010 Graffiti Task Force, creator/founder of Maricopa HOA Presidents Council, graduate of the first Maricopa Citizens Leadership Academy, former law enforcement officer and police academy instructor, special event planner and manager, community volunteer.

3.  Knowledge – awareness and understanding of Maricopa governance structure; working knowledge and direct experience with city codes including the revision process; attendee at council meetings, joint summits, town halls, retreats, committee meetings, presentations and events since 2006.

4.  Perseverance – knowing the “bottom line;” being tenacious; learning all I can about a subject; educating myself on council member duties and responsibilities.

5.  Compromise – listening to and considering multiple perspectives; seeking the best resolution; knowing and weighing all the options; willingness to negotiate, achieving mutually beneficial resolutions and cooperation.

6.  Open-mindedness – patiently listening to concerns, questions, issues; reserving judgment until the facts are known; fairness, voting with compassion and logic.

7.  Research – preparation to take action on agenda items prior to voting; listening to final statements and public comments supporting or opposing the item; making an informed decision based on fact and these combined factors.

8.  Commitment – accessible; willing to serve on a committee, task force, board, etc. as required/requested; dedicated to serve as council member with no furtherance of a personal political agenda.

9.  Responsible Action – making informed, logical decisions. “Peg will get the job done.”

10. Accountable Representation – seeking citizen input, talking with constituents, maintaining an “open door” policy, voicing opinions, positions and reasons opposed to or in support of action items.
