The traffic signal at North John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road was out for about five hours Sunday after the control box was struck around 10:30 a.m. by a vehicle traveling north on the parkway.

Sgt. Stephen Judd of the Maricopa Police Department said Monday a female driver crossed the median on the parkway and struck the box. The vehicle stopped near the gas pumps at the QuikTrip convenience store at the northwest corner of the intersection, he said.

Judd said the driver was unconscious when authorities arrived and was transported to Chandler Regional Hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries. He said she had a medical condition, but did not know the nature of it.
