Charity dinner to celebrate local children

Maricopans can kick off the holiday season with a candlelight dinner, hosted by Anthony and Nancy Smith, to benefit Maricopa’s Chances for Children charity.

Chances for Children is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for local youth with programs that provide access to sports, education and character education. They have begun work in Maricopa by offering the first Maricopa Fit Family training this past summer and by working with the Maricopa Unified School District to provide ‘Team Fit Kids,’ an exercise program which started this fall at Santa Rosa Elementary School (see related story).

This festive event is focusing on making the holiday season special while, at the same time, helping local children. Guests will dine on beef tenderloins, stuffed filet of fish, grilled shrimp and rosemary potatoes. In addition, live music will set the mood for the evening and will feature an array of traditional holiday songs. Tickets are $50 per person.

All guests will have an equal chance to win great prizes, including: Compaq Presario Laptop Computer, Vizio 19″ HDTV, JVC Digital Video Camera and many more.

“The event includes a wonderful dinner, music and fabulous prizes,” said Nancy Smith. “It’s a great way to start the holiday season!”
