The next stages of State Route 347 construction are just over the horizon.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will host a public meeting for community members on the next SR 347 improvements in June, according to an email from State Rep. Teresa Martinez to InMaricopa.

A location and date for the meeting have not been set.

Martinez said she hopes early notice will generate public input prior to the meetings.

“I know [progress is] slow, but it is moving forward,” she said. “When it comes to public comments, we need everyone to show up.”

The June meeting will review and potentially finalize two proposals for the Riggs Road interchange and concept ideas for intersections at Casa Blanca Road and Mammoth Way, the cement plant access road, according to the email.

While these projects are still in design phases, construction is expected to begin on the intersection in spring 2025 and in late 2026 for the interchange.

Prior to the summer meeting, ADOT will introduce some concepts to members of the Gila River Indian Community over the next two months. This includes a meeting with the GRIC Elder Concerns Group on April 10 and to GRIC’s District 5 on April 15.

Additional meetings with members of GRIC’s Districts 4 and 6 will take place later this month or in May, as well as agreement from GRIC lawyers.

  1. Please post the time and location when ready. We need as many people to show up so they listen. If we look at the last 3 years, we know if you scream and show up, it’s a peaceful protest.
