Registration Wednesday for fishing derby

Maricopa’s ninth annual Fishing Derby is set for March 9, with registration beginning Wednesday.

Registration is $5 per child and 150 children, ages 5 to 12, are allowed to participate in the catch-and-release fishing tournament held at Pacana Park. The 90 minute “total catch” tourmanent starts at 2:30 p.m.

Each child receives a fishing kit complete with rod, reel and bait. The event is topped off with a barbecue and event guests will dine on hot dogs, chips, cookies, water and soda.
