If you order off the back page of a Denny’s menu, this event next month might just be for you.

The Maricopa Senior Advisory Committee will host the Eighth Annual Senior Info/Expo Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.

Ron Smith, a living-in-place advocate and one of the event organizers, hopes local seniors take advantage of the event.

“We’re going to provide a lot of information and we hope people use it to make connections to services they may need now or in the future,” he said. “As a senior, things can happen to you fairly quickly, so it’s nice to have that knowledge in advance.”

With a downsized venue — the event was held at Copper Sky in years past — the expo will also provide only snacks in lieu of a catered lunch, as in previous years.

But the 2024 event will offer door prizes for attendees and welcome the Arizona Attorney General’s Office as a special guest.

The expo opens at 8:30 a.m. with exhibitors and goodie bags, while speakers and workshops get started at 9:30 a.m.

Workshop topics include fraud schemes targeting seniors, heart health, life care planning and how to navigate dementia.
