Maricopa police arrested a woman accused of threatening her family with a cattle prodder and attacking officers Tuesday.
Officers arrested 47-year-old Angela J. Washington on charges of aggravated assault on a cop, resisting arrest, threatening and disorderly conduct, according to a probable cause statement.
Just before 5 30 p.m., Maricopa police responded to a home on West Maricopa Avenue in Senita on a report of a verbal disagreement.
Family members said the argument started after Washington’s father called his daughter a jobless criminal.
Washington reportedly said she believed the FBI was following her and sneaking into her bedroom, according to the police report. Washington became “infuriated” when her parents said they had no clue what she was talking about.
Family members said they feared for their safety, as Washington brandished an electric cattle prodder and threatened to use it on her dad and sister the day before. Washington’s sister provided cops footage of that interaction.
Washington allegedly resisted arrest when cops went to handcuff her, hitting officers several times, scratching them and biting them in a futile attempt to flee.
Washington was booked into the Pinal County jail and faces eight years in prison if convicted.
