Barracuda swimmers earn 90 ribbons in first home meet

The Maricopa swim team hosted their first home meet Saturday against Globe. The meet was held at the Rotary Community Swimming Pool and featured more than 60 swimmers from Maricopa (see related story).

The butterfly stroke was part of the Medley Relay for nine and 10 year-old girls.

Swimmers competed in many different races, including two relays, the backstroke, the breaststroke, the butterfly stroke, freestyle and the three-man medley race.

This young swimmer put forth his best effort during his portion of the relay.

The Maricopa Barracudas, coached by Ed Goldstein, swam extremely well, as evidenced by them scoring more than 90 first, second and third place finishes.

The Barracudas’ next meet is against Kearny this Saturday. The team’s next home meets are July 1 and July 8.
