Border Patrol agent injured in Hwy. 238 collision

At approximately 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, Maricopa Fire Department was called to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at mile post 43 on Hwy. 238 west of Hwy. 347.

A 30-year-old Border Patrol agent was involved in a collision with a tractor trailer semi while traveling westbound on Hwy. 238. The agent, who has been with the Border Patrol for a year and a half, suffered head and back injuries as a result of the accident and was flown via helicopter at 7:25 a.m. to Maricopa Medical Center as a level one trauma for further treatment and evaluation.

Highway 238 was closed temporarily to east and westbound traffic. The four-door passenger car driven by the Border Patrol agent sustained extensive front end damage.

There were no passengers in the vehicle. The driver of the semi was not injured. It was reported both the semi and passenger vehicle were traveling westbound.
